Mom and Daughter

This week I got to take N to her first orthodontist appointment. She will have to have braces, but they want to wait because some of her teeth are not all the way in yet. We got to spend some time together and it was a lot of fun. We had a good time at the office laughing and hanging out while we waited and then afterwards we went to Walmart, where I took way to long picking out the right calendar to keep track of all the upcoming appointments we have this year!

Today we went shopping for clothes for her. While I can say on one hand it was fun, it was also a learning experience. For example, I liked a lavender top that was a sleeveless button up blouse with a cute collar. She did not. I thought a neat red sweater with other colors mixed in with stripes would look great on her...she did not. I kept trying to get her to go red, especially red with other colors because I thought it would look good on her. Apparently red is out if it's not solid. Checks are okay basically if they are black with something else. Lavender....no....Yellow...no....Blue, red, green, black, white...yes.

How many times did my mom buy me something that I'd think (oh boy?) I think I still have the turquoise (mom ALWAYS like that color on me) dress she bought me for my college graduation. I guess somethings will never change. I also found out that she prefers tshirts to the polo type shirts she's had in the past. She said "I have so many of those at home already." Even though we were shopping to replace them because she's grown, she did not want to replace them with polo shirts again. This happened right after Dash had told me in a different conversation that he really didn't want polo shirts, he had several at home already and doesn't like them all that well. Of course they both liked polo shirts just fine when I bought them for them before, or so they said.

Anyway, we sang with the "Best friends Wedding" CD and talked about when I first saw that movie and how old she was and remembered how she didn't like Toy Story (first movie we took her too--she was about 1 or 1 1/2.) She also was afraid of Chuckee Cheese. I think it's because of her play world that she had with all her stuffed animals and toys. She says it's just because she didn't like the "evil pizza mouse!" (or something like that?) :) Anyway, all in all we had a great time and I really enjoyed my time with her this week.

That's really great you had bonding time like that! And wow, she really is growing up so much!

I need to figure out a way to have one on one time with my boys too! Since they are 14 months apart, I tend to "group" them together in likes/dislikes. I HATED that when my mom did that to me with my sister who is 3 yrs younger...LOL!
