I hope you don't regret asking! LOL
Golden and Dust said they were interested in how my first week was going so here it is! I'm having a really good first week.
There hasn't been a full time person in this role for a while--sooooo
There is A LOT to do! Today was day four. I have worked late this week and skipped lunches. I have to learn to balance/manage my time better. I have a lot to do but the position is administrative and ministry both, so the people time is taking more then I realized. Obviously this is just week one and no one is expecting me to come in and have it all down and be perfect in the first week.
It's not overwhelming it's just a lot to do. As one person stated, I am starting at ground zero. There are no clear cut defined processes in place. Where things are stored is varied, there are a lot of things that just haven't been done, in some cases ever. In other cases in a while.
I am most nervous about this Sunday. It will be the first time I've created a bulletin and the first time I've done things in power point for people in a public setting. I have templates I'm working off of for the bulletin so that's not too difficult. I think I'll be okay with the power point as well. I won't be in the service because I'm teaching the little two and three year old's this week, that's probably a good thing! :)
I feel like I have found a job that fits me really well -- I just hope that the pastor, board, and congregation feel the same way! Chad's resisting the urge to call me "Susan"--at least all the time! It's my personal goal to strive towards her excellence. I'm sure that will be a goal I will have to continue to work on continuously.
Thanks for asking about the new gig. I hope you're all having a good week too! :)

I didn't realize how demanding being the church secretary is. It sounds like its a good match.
I'm glad you found a job that seems to be a good match.
Cool. It does seem like a good fit for you.
If there are no defined processes in place, maybe you can have input on what you think works best! That might be better than a place that already has its processes the way they like it.
I am happy that this is working for you so far. It is probably good in some respects that you do not have too many defined processes in place because now you can define it.
This sounds awesome! Speaking as someone who is in complete amazement of Susan and all church secretaries, you'll do great!
