Recently I have gotten back into chewing gum. When I was a child (and even now) my mom ALWAYS had gum in her purse. Anytime I sat with her during church I would rummage through her purse to get the gum. I didn't care about her wallet, keys, finger nail file, or the kitchen sink that she carries with her! I only had eyes for her Freedent gum!
She occasionally would buy a different brand, but usually it was the green Freedent. I guess largely because she had a partial denture and other gums stuck to it. I don't know where my mom got her love for gum, but it was something that stuck with her! I would venture to say that on almost any given day I had at least one piece of gum if not more. We didn't have a lot of candy in the house, but I could blow bubbles and pop my gum all day long and often did! As a child I would "save" my gum on my plate at dinner time.
Now, even though I am getting into the whole gum thing again--I still don't chew once piece for very long. But for many years I didn't chew gum. Dash has never really liked gum (according to him) so after I met him I eventually stopped buying gum and that was that, I never really missed it. N also does not like gum. Plus chewing gum gives her a headache. So because of that again--there wasn't a need for gum.
My youngest though--good ole chan man! He likes gum and he gets it at Grandma's now that he's older and I don't know if it was him or just grabbing a pack of gum for Christmas a year ago but now I'm slowing getting back into the whole gum thing! I don't ALWAYS have a piece and often I forget to offer him a piece unless we're out somewhere! But gum has reentered my life's constant things to have on hand! :)

I had a serious gum addiction a few years ago. I would chew one piece after the other until the whole pack was gone. I miss gum. BB hates gum too, hates when I chew it.
Gum always makes mouth hurt, and then there is the problem of getting rid of it. Too much trouble for me.
I go through phases of chewing gum. Usually around Christmas when I get it in my stocking. And then at Easter in my easter basket. (Yes, my mother still gets me an easter basket)
We're still working through the Christmas gum, since we got a lot this year. I have been using some in the morning as a breath freshener.
I get headaches too when I chew too much of it. It took a while for me to narrow down the cause to gum, though.
Two memories I have of gum:
1. My great aunt and grandmother would always give the grandkids half a stick of gum on car trips. I could never figure out what was so wrong about chewing an entire stick.
2. One summer when I was about eleven or twelve I thought it was a horrible waste to throw away gum after only an hour or two, so I used to save it and chew it later. I gradually added more gum to what I was saving and eventually I had a huge wad lying on my nightstand for when I felt like chewing. In retrospect, that was kind of gross.
