It is the sound of coughing

Today I left the kids at home for a little while. I had to go to work and cman has had a sore throat the past few days. He's almost lost his voice completely. I did some checking on the internet and compared and contrasted his symptoms to strep (non of us have ever had strep) it appeared to be a viral sore throat, no treatment works, it just runs its coarse. Then I get to work today (I did not want to potentially contaminate a pregnant woman's home) so I left the kids here. I was told that I should have brought him that her daughter (whom he had played with the past couple weeks) just got over strep last Thursday.

Then N calls me and says that cman was complaining that his stomach hurts. Well, I may not have had strep before, but I do know that the stomach plus headache combo are symptoms. Now I know he's also been exposed. I made a doctors appointment for this afternoon, so they can tell me he's fine. If he's not then we'll get him the treatment he needs and if he is, then I'm just an over reacting mom that's too concerned for her son's health. I'm okay with that.

Speaking of over reacting moms, is it crazy to ask people with sick kids to disclose the information? I wouldn't have assumed it was allergies if I had know he had been exposed to strep. Why wasn't I told? It seems rude to me that so many people send their kids and take their kids out when they are sick. Cman's immunity is not great so I have become more sensitive to this with him. Yes they will get some exposure to things at school etc. I understand that germs are everywhere, but must we spread them on purpose? We kept him home last night even though he wasn't running a fever and really wanted to go to church because I didn't want to take a chance on it not being allergies. I am glad that we did that, even if it turns out to be allergies and not strep. I would much rather keep them home and let them get better then let them contaminate others or get worse from something someone else had and brought with them to the party.

Germs. bah hum bug.

You should have at least been made aware a bit earlier I would think.

I've never had strep, but it turned a Christmas holiday into a complete nightmare for Golden one year.

Well, I am glad that I took him to the doctor because he said that he doesn't have strep, but he does have a sinus infection. He still gets to go camping and to the pool this weekend which made him very happy.

I guess we will go another day without knowing what it's like to have strep. I am really okay with that.

I've had strep many times and it's no fun. I also had lots of ear infections in the summer which meant no swimming pools. bah

Glad C-man doesn't have strep! Hope you guys have a good weekend!

(I went to the hospital last night with contractions every 5 min. I did not change from 3 cm dilation, so they sent me home. It will be a long weekend for me--wait and see mode right now)

What a bummer to be in the wait and see mode. I hope that you are able to be comfortable while waiting. Are you caught up on your movies yet? Remember I have reading material if you need it! Nothing like a cheesy christian romance novel to read while you wait! :) Seriously I hope you don't have to wait much longer.
