Dr. Dr.

I am really frustrated with Doctors. Here's some things that annoy me. "Make your next appointment for 4 months from now." Appointment made when you leave, only to be called to reschedule because the doctor will be out. I had this happen to me, no I am NOT joking for 4 or 5 appointments in a row with our allergist. So, I have a negative response to this.

We go to the dentist and she and her assistant convince me to change my kids appointments for their cleaning to be on a day that the dentist that they normally see is in. So I do. I get a call a week and a half later--you need to change these appointments because the office will be closed on that day for a staff meeting. We moved from April 27 to May 4th originally. They wanted me to take an appointment in July. NO. So they will be going middle of may on a Monday (day our dentist is not in.)

Final complaint. I got a bill from our regular doctor for my leg. I pay the bill at a check up. I got another bill saying it wasn't paid. I called about this. They called me back saying I had to send them copies of my receipts because they don't keep them once they key them into the system. So the burden of proof was put on me. What if I hadn't kept my receipt? Their system stinks and I told them that. I can't believe that she actually said to me, "if must have been entered into the computer wrong and we don't keep any of that paper work once it's been entered." How dumb is that? How many errors do they make? How do they know if they made it or not? What if a person paid in cash and couldn't prove it?

I like my doctors, but sometimes this stuff just makes me a little crazy.

I totally agree!! The other thing is...I am supposed to make a follow up appointment in 3 months when I leave, BUT their system doesn't run that far in advance to schedule the appointment. I am supposed to "remember" to call them in 6 weeks to "make" the appointment. Aaugh! :$

Oh yeah...on the burden of proof...

Yesterday I received an invoice at work for two service calls for the copier, that I did NOT make. I called Xerox...they said that the machine location is in New York, but the billing address was mine. I told her that its not mine. She looked up the customer number...it still has MY address for billing!

Then she had the nerve to ask me to fax the invoice to the correct party in NY, once she huffed and puffed enough and had finally found the number for who called in the service request. I said, NO, that is NOT my responsibility. If the company wanted to be paid, they would have to reissue an invoice to the proper location.

Then I went and shredded the invoice!!!! =)

That sounds a little vicious Jadee! But I did inform the person working in my doctors office that if what she was telling me is true (which I still don't believe, I think she was just too lazy to do the foot work) that they needed a new system. To not have my doctor's sheet OR the credit card receipt. I mean I gave her invoice numbers and time of transactions with dates...they could have found it but she kept saying "There's no way to prove you paid this without a copy of your reciept."

What's frustrating is that this will probably only get worse. Since there are more patients than doctors there isn't much incentive for those doctors with bad billing systems to fix the problem.

Of course this shouldn't be a blanket statement, but think through this if a doctor decided to be lazy about the system. So what if you decide to go to a different doctor. There are plenty more patients in line to take your place.

Yes, I am glad I don't decide on what doctor to doctor with based on their billing! I am sure they all have issues. I am glad my mom taught me to keep good records of things, so far when this kind of issue has come us I've always had what I needed to prove my side!

Very frustrating to have to prove you're right. I'm fortunate not to have had that one. I don't usually keep doc receipts. We have to keep receipts for everything, almost, now. But we aren't in the habit so there are things that we don't get reimbursed for because of it.
