As a parent, you learn to realize that it's a gamble when you see "to the parents of." You heart beats faster, you start anticipating. What is it? What could it be? What did they do? Will it be good?
Well, before the kids went to bed, I asked for their papers so I could look at them. This is a usual routine we do when they get home from school, except on Fridays. Friday we usually are doing other things so I look at them later in the evening or during the weekend.
In the middle of N's paperwork was an envelope: To the parents of N. F. Inside was a letter, similar to the one we got a few weeks ago. It stated that she had now taken her 2nd standardized test for the school year at grade level 5 for math. She tested at the advanced level. Good job N!
When I asked Cman for his papers, he said oh yeah, you have a letter from the Nurse. Sure enough, to the parents of C. F. Inside was a letter stating that he has to have further testing for his vision and proceeded to give what he tested at with her. "Rolled the dice and lost on this one."

We have the same routine...but I don't think I have had the anticipation of opening something up like you describe...but I probably will now! LOL!
However, it will be good to help Cman out now, rather than later...and he will enjoy school much better!! I was in the same situation in the 4th grade.
I will pray you find a good doctor for him.
One out of two ain't bad.
C-man is more honest than I was. I also received a note to give to my parents about my eyesight when I was in elementary. I threw my letter away. My parents never knew until years later. I knew it was a misunderstanding between me and the nurse. I could read the bottom line, but she didn't ask me if I could. She just said to read a line. I read the one above the bottom.
