As I sit in the family room listening to N read to cman I hear her stop every once in a while to say "do you know what that is?" I have always stressed how important it is to know what you are reading, so she's picked up on this and as she reads to him, she is teaching him. "Department, do you know what that is?" "Yeah, where people live." "No that's apartment, department is different sections in a store." "If you have questions, make sure you ask me." She says in her older sibling with all the wisdom way! **Yes she's heard that before, but that's okay, she's understanding the importance of learning!** So she reads on for a while. Cman says "Patchwork, what's that?" N replies "It's like, kind of, well, here--come with me. Mom, I need to show him this quilt so he can see what patch work is." "Okay." "See cman this is what patchwork is." "Oh, all the pieces together?" "yeah, see the pattern, and the pieces together, that's patchwork." "huh, okay!"
They are reading "The Great Christmas Kidnapping Caper." It sounds like a fun book. I remember when my brother (who was 3 years younger then me) and when we had snow days. We'd bundle up and play outside. We made an igloo with our sisters one year next to our fence and that was cool, it was so warm inside, I didn't expect that since it was made of snow! But it was! When we played inside, we usually played games, surprise! Rusty and I didn't play regular games, we would take pieces of all our games and create our own compilation! It was fun. I am glad that my kids enjoy reading. I know that if they had their way, they'd be in front of the TV, but I am glad that their next choice took them to reading. They both seem really into their book. I'm going to go back to reading Pride and Prejudice now. I have about 100ish pages left. :)

yes, apathy is our worst enemy!
Outside the box. Inside the snowy dome. Same thing.
We had tunnels that went throughout my whole yard. It was very warm in our little caverns and I loved to play in them. It's my favorite thing about snow. I hate that the snow doesn't last longer here.
