Aaron Sorkin - Awesome at TV and Movies. Although, this blog is specific to some of his TV shows.
I like Aaron Sorkin TV shows. The West Wing, Sports Night, The Newsroom, Studio 60. He writes intelligent shows that hit on current events and manages to still draw you in to the personal lives of the characters.
I don't know if he is working on any new shows, but I am hopeful. I will keep my eye out for his name, that is for sure!
We as a family watched the West Wing a few years ago. We are currently watching Sports Night -again- but this time, with the kids. It seems to be a good blend for us, because while it is historical sports themed show - kind of - it is relational too. I think it is pretty cool that the kids like Aaron Sorkin shows, there are several shows we watch that they do not enjoy. But we all enjoy what he creates.
A side note, I would not recommend watching Aaron Sorkin shows with young children. Sometimes it is a stretch even with Chandler being 15, but we overcome those moments for the awesome dialog and intelligent writing that happens throughout the entire arc of the show. Nicky watched Newsroom with us, Chandler started to watch it with us, but the content was a bit much for him at the time (he was 13 when it first aired.)
Even though the content is geared to an older/mature audience, it is worth it. I have to say that the ending of Newsroom was one of my favorite series finales. I really hope that Aaron Sorkin comes up with something else soon, but until he does, I don't mind watching reruns of his shows! We're already discussing watching the West Wing again this summer! ;)
SPORTS NIGHT (1998-2000)
WEST WING (1999-2006)
NEWSROOM (2012-2015)

I just checked him out on IMDB.com, and it looks like he's working on a Steve Jobs biopic. Honestly, that could be good or bad. Who knows...
