It's day 180 and on Day 178 I got a happy shock. I was called while I was at work and Nicky broke the news to me that she is moving back home. Chad and I have never wanted to be parents of a boomerang kid, but we also wanted to help our kids have a sound financial footing when they move out. The way we see it, she is 19 and since she's been dependent on us for most of this time, she's not boomeranging as much as she's reuniting the two households. :) Not that it matters that much.
We're all hoping that she'll live with us a couple years, or so, not forever. :) She'll work and save money. She'll take at least one semester off, if not more and that she'll have a better grasp on what she wants to truly do with her life moving forward. Decisions that she needs to make about her life can be made with less stress, since she won't be having to worry about rent and groceries, and living expenses for a while. She can save some money and buy a decent vehicle. She can go to college and have enough money saved to pay for it up front. So many things become better for her through this move.
We are hopeful that if Chandler doesn't have a lot of money saved for college that he'll take a year or two to work and save for it also. I really don't understand why more people don't do that these days? It seems to be such a logical decision for those whose parents aren't paying for their college.
My prayer now is that as she prepares for this transition (and we do too) that God will bless all involved. Her current roommate, my sister (who now owns the house Nicky is currently living in) and friends and family that will miss her. Also, for the jobs she's leaving behind and the church she's grown close too.
I'm SO thankful that God has blessed her so much during this time. I'm so proud of her for how well she's done on her own and I'm so glad that she's mature enough to realize that there is no shame in taking the help that is offered to you.

That sounds like a good move for Nicky. I hope that Nicky is able to find any direction that she might need.
