I'm just days away from going to Niagra Falls for the first time! I'm looking forward to my "second honeymoon" with Chad. 20 years of marriage next Wednesday. Since I will be in Canada and I'm not sure I'll have data to blog - I'm going to post my Anniversary Post now. :)
21 + years ago I met Chad Franklin. I knew the moment I saw him that he was the one that I would marry. I didn't know why. :) We had little in common. I liked to explore caves, be outdoors and I wanted a job that would have me travelling. He wanted to be a scholar, never step foot in a cave, and enjoy air conditioning! Nothing wrong with that, we were just different. Somehow, we got past that to find common ground of board games and cards. He liked to talk about things he knew and I listened. I liked to figure out things, plan, make lists, and he liked to let me!
We started out as young and dumb (we actually know that now). At the time, we thought we had life figured out. With the curve balls we've endured the best part of it all, we've endured it together.
We complement each other. I don't think we were ever "polar opposite" but our differences helped us find a way to soften the edges and find a middle ground. Through it all, the one thing that has been consistent in over 21 years - I still beat him at Canasta! :) Well, I guess two things never changed, I still love him - like the day we met. In fact, it doesn't feel at all like we should be able to say we've been married for 20 years. Time truly does fly when you're having fun and with few exceptions - I'd say it's been mostly fun. ;) I love you Dash!
