White Paper to Merit Poster!

Tonight, I asked Dash to look over some legal documents for the food pantry that I volunteer for.  In return, he asked me if I could help him with a chart for the Blue Bible Merit.  I said sure and went to work.  Upon completion, he said, it would be nice to have a poster for the merit.  I was shocked that there wasn’t one already, but it is a new merit.

I said “would you like me to work on one?”  He said “that would be great”.  So I did.  I feel the greatest since of accomplishment, more than I have in a long time, after completing this project.  I came up with a decent draft, but not  “perfect”.  I had to build in another layer and I had to redo my initial work on pic of the boy.  I showed Nicky what I was doing and the program I was using, she showed me a couple pointers that made all the difference in the world with the details.

In a project like this, it’s the details that can make it perfect or make it “doable.”  I’ve been teaching myself some things with some different programs.  It’s basic stuff, but it makes a huge difference.  Tonight, what I learned from Nicky took me from “ok” to "good".  We sent it off to a printing company that I’ve ordered from before and assuming it looks good in large format, Chad has a Blue Bible Merit poster now!

The “boy” in the pic is Chandler.  I took the picture outside our house and then removed the background.  I pulled it into publisher made some changes, copied his arm, erased some of the shading from the box and was able to layer it back over the box, which was the final moment of “yay” for me.

It’s amateur work, but it’s mine!  When I start working on stuff like this the family has fun with me being in “artistic” mode.  I really do enjoy the art of creating things like this and the more I learn with these programs, the more fun I have with it.

well, Chad didn't ask me to do this until after 6pm or so, I was done done...at 1:30am. We had dinner and took time to talk with the kids and take care of some household stuff and pantry stuff during that time too...yeah. But then I couldn't sleep, so I was up till after 4am. I really wish I could have stayed home today!
