Venting

So, I wrote a blog where I vented some frustration. It was only up for a few minutes, if you read it...sorry. I'm fine, just frustrated.

In other news,

a gentleman came in the office today fired up. He needed to vent. He was a pastor from a neighboring town and shared that his church will be leaving their denonination and proceeded to tell me why.

He said that the elder that called him to introduce himself cussed at him on the phone. They also told him that it was pastor's like him and churches like his that made people who are gay commit suicide. His story goes on (20 minutes to me, and then another 40 to the pastor when he got in.)

I feel bad for this man. His heart was aching and he was mad both. The Bible states things clearly, but when he used the Bible for his counter arguement the person ignored him.

I told him I would be praying for the church. It would be great if you could too. I know there are a few denominations spliting over homosexuality and if you can take the Bible literally or not. I'm glad that we are not there as a denomination, but we have to pray, pray for God's church body and for the Christians who are trying to make a stand. My sister's church is in the middle of considering leaving the denomination they are in because of some of the same issues this man is having with his. I have to say, their counter arguements are smooth. Wrong, and totally off base, but smooth. This man is concerned for the pastor's that this leader talks too and how easily they could be swayed. In speaking to my pastor he agreed, that a young person who is trying to do right and looking to leadership in their denomination often can fall prey to wrong beliefs because they are not seasoned and are still open to learning and growing. Pray for the "Disciples of Christ" group and the Methodist. I know both these groups are struggling right now and splitting. I also know that church splits and changes affect the people in them and this is not something to take lightly.

It's a difficult topic, no doubt. I hate to hear about denominations splitting.
