This year, we had celebrated with family early, so we really didn't have any "plans" for Christmas. I was particularly happy about just having time with dash and the kids and chillin' out. I even decided on Tuesday night to stay out later in the ice storm to pick up a ham so I could make a traditional Christmas dinner for us.
After staying up late watching holiday movies with the kids. We all woke up around 10:30. We proceeded to get our stockings at that time. The one thing we do hold off on is, stockings. We may open gifts up in November, but our stockings are for Christmas morning! After that I called my parents to wish them a Merry Christmas.
I found out that my sister was not feeling well, so their plans to go there were cancelled. On top of that, my dad was bringing his mom home and when I asked her if they were having ham, she said, "no we're having left over roast."
Now, my mom makes yummy roast--but left over roast is not an ideal Christmas dinner for any one, but if you knew my mom and dad--you'd know that it was definitely NOT what they are use to doing. With my mom being an excellent cook and a person who shows her love by fixing food for others, I couldn't imagine their Christmas this way.
So, I promptly said that I could bring some ham and dinner over later. I was getting ready to cook. Once I was off the phone and dash heard what was going on, he promptly said "NO, we'll go over there to eat dinner!"
We managed to have ham, potatoes, green beans, noodles, and rolls. It was yummy-if I do say so myself! We all worked together. Nicky and Chad made the potatoes, mom and I made the green beans, noodles, and ham. The store made the rolls! :)
We ate left overs today and have more for later this weekend too! I LOVE ham!
I think my parents had a good Christmas, and I think I helped with that! That's a good feeling! I like to help others! "I love it when when an unplan comes together!" :)

That is such a great memory! I am so happy you got to share with your folks on Christmas day!
I would agree that we also had an "unplanned" Christmas...which was so much fun to have my brother drop in from Nashville and then we had brunch with David's family and then drove on down to Springfield to see my sister...AND she got to keep her kids longer so the cousins all got to play together too!
God is good AND He does give us the desires of our heart! :)
Sadly, we didn't have stockings this year. I kind of missed them.
We had the traditional ham too. Never heard of "left overs" for X-mas.
You're not supposed to shop on an empty stomach. I guess I shouldn't read blogs on one either. :)
We were with my family this Christmas, and so did not do stockings like we normally do. I think that Golden is going to make sure we do next year.
