We got the carpet up last week in the living room. We have an area rug now that is the correct size (don't ask) and we have bought the paint for the living room. We're trying to keep the rest of the house in mind as we go. We may not paint until closer to when the blinds get here, we're still debating. But we did decide we'd paint our front door today. Which meant we had to by stripper to remove the current paint. We got home late afternoon (plenty of time to work on things) and began the process.
The hitch--the paint we're trying to remove we now think is oil based because the water based stripper did not work on it. So Chad is on his way to the store. This means--since the local hardware is closed at noon on Saturdays he's making an 18 mile trip (30 minutes there and 30 minutes back) to walmart to get a new kind that we hope will work better. I know people run into hitches and glitches but what a pain.
On a brighter note. We did decide, since the house is currently white and the blinds are a dark wood to paint the front door (which is mostly hidden by an old screen door--on the list to think about replacing eventually) a nice green. It's almost a true green, so it's kind of bright, but still a darker color too.
We're still into more elbow grease than money at this point, but to do much more we'll have to spend some bigger bucks. After all his hard work, dash is really trying to get a new tv! I think we might end up doing that. We saw one today that was reasonable and he's compromising on a 32" instead of bigger then that. We'll see. It's amazing how nice it is to have this project underway.
I still think we've increased the value of the home more then what we've spent in paint and the area rug, and blinds, even without the repair work to the floor so I think we're both happy with the direction things are going. Even with the work involved.

All projects have a glitch or two along the way. It sounds like your home improvements are moving along. Your hard work will be worth it.
That's a long round trip to Wal-Mart. I always have to make multiple trips for supplies.
I'm happy everything appears to be coming together.
I hate having to always make multi trips to the store. It always happens when I take on a project.
