DVD

This week I took on a project for a friend. She needed a DVD made of her son for his 40th birthday. When I offered to do the project, I had anticipated 4 or 5 hours of work. It ended up being significantly more then that. It took 4 hours to scan the 223 pictures! :)

The biggest hurdle was the music. She didn't want love songs on the movie, but his favorite songs were mostly love songs. On day two of music hunting I finally gave up and downloaded the songs from iTunes in instrumental format. The finished product was something that I liked and felt comfortable putting my name on.

Even though the project ended up being more then I bargained for originally, I had a lot of fun doing it. I also learned more about my movie and music programs. I had never down loaded itunes, let alone change them to mp3 format to be able to use them in my other programs.

I have considered doing this on the side. My investment costs would be little to none, so it would just be time investment. I'm still thinking about it and after this project I have a lot better idea of the time involved and what that would actually mean. I'd have to do some research to see what I could sell the DVDs for and if that is worth the time commitment. Anyway, it's something for me to think about.

Sounds like a cool hobby. I wish someone could show me how to a DVD like the ones you make. I've never been successful making DVDs.

It does sound like a fun thing to do. It was nice of you to make the DVD for them.

Going with the instrumental versions of the songs was a great idea. I always get into projects that take more time than I anticipated as well.

Excellent hobby. I knew someone in KC who also turned that hobby into a part-time then eventually full-time business. He worked from home so his wife could work. I wish I could do it too. That was a great gift!
