I got roped in to the Thanksgiving thing this year. For years, my sister Tammy and I agreed that we lived far away and would not travel on Thanksgiving. She actually came up with the idea, but I was ALL for it. We are gone every Christmas over several states between families, so I have grown to cherish my Thanksgivings with dash and the kids. This year at one point we had Chad's brother trying to get us to come to Springfield, Nicky trying to get us to go to Tammy's in Ohio and My mom telling everyone I was going to be there!
Mom found out what Nicky was saying and quickly stopped that with stating that Tammy was coming to her house! I still did not commit between Springfield or here, but current circumstances made staying an easier choice. Mom said she understood if we couldn't make it, I think she felt bad for assuming we'd be there.
Anyway, after thinking about it I realized that growing up for many years we spent thanksgiving going to my Grandma Freeman's where all the women pitched in on cooking and the kids who weren't fed breakfast so they would be hungry for lunch hung out all day starving! :) I'm sure my mom looks on that fondly because cooking is something she does out of love for those she loves. It's like her own personal love language. So, for the first time ever for Chandler and the first time that N can remember (probably) we're going to Grandma's house for Thanksgiving.

I am much more okay with being alone on Thanksgiving rather than Christmas. However, it is Thanksgiving that EVERYONE wants to invite you to join them...and they act shocked that "I might even consider being alone" on Thanksgiving!
I actually enjoy having the day at home with a fireplace and Christmas music while putting up the tree.
It's Christmas day that is absolutely depressing alone when the boys are gone. But that is the day that EVERYONE is with THEIR FAMILY, so no one has ever invited me for Christmas.
I hope you all have a GREAT time with FAMILY! The kids will enjoy having some memories of Thanksgiving at Grandma's house!! :)
I think this Thanksgiving will be on own. We've seen the Grandparents the past couple of years. But this year the Grandparents are both in iowa.
I hope you enjoy Thanksgiving at Grandma's house. We will be in Springfield so if you end up being there for some reason, let us know! : )
That is interesting because I always want to get invited somewhere so I don't have to cook for lots of people. This is my 1st thanksgiving cooking for people and I am a little nervous.
That will be a great experience for Chan-Man and N! It's best if you don't have to travel too much over the holidays, in my opinion.
The holiday family tug of war is one of the bigger stresses and disappointments of adult life. The kids that are oblivious and content at Grandmas have got it good.
