My blog is about the aftermath that happens every day when my kids walk out the door at 7:45. Let me take you on a trip. You enter my living room and there is hope that all is well. The hope stops there! Once in the kitchen you see pop tarts on the counter, or cereal on the floor or the worst oatmeal in the bottom of a bowl and on the counter and on the floor! Oatmeal gets EVERYWHERE. There is trash on the stove that hasn't been properly disposed of, trash--on the stove? When you look carefully there will be crumbs or huge chunks of food underneath the table too most likely.
You take a deep breath and walk to N's room. (She officially has her own room now!--with a small amount of work that still needs to be done, she gave up waiting to have F-R-E-E-D-O-M!) It's not that bad actually. Some clothes on the floor and a messed up bed, animals on her love seat, but livable. Then again--it's only day 1 of her having her own room!
Walking back to the bathroom you take a look and you are thankful that the dirty Kleenex's that you told cman to pick up are in the full trash can. It's over flowing- but you can take out the trash. You venture to his room to see how he did with his things the first day of having his own territory and you see that somehow his sheet is off his bed but that's okay it's covered in used Kleenexes? EWWWWWW. Apparently they work well as carpet too?! Did I say EWWWWWW?
Luckily I did not have to worry about it being darker this morning because of the clouds. EVERY light was on in my house to make sure that I had safe passage! :) Today was a good day. I know I use to get ready for school, I wonder if I left a trail of jet fuel behind! That's really what all this reminds me of, looking up in the sky and seeing a tiny spot and a large white puffy line behind it. It shows you where the jet has been and that there was indeed a jet. I guess my kids want me to know that they are here and indeed children! And just think, today was a good day!

Sometimes I come home to my own jet stream, happily unaware that I hadn't cleaned up my clothes off the bathroom floor or whatever. Sometimes you never grow up...
Sounds like how I use to leave my room getting ready for school
How fitting was your blog!!! I am trying so hard (and did pretty well this summer) to make sure that I keep the "trail" picked up as I leave the house! Since I go out the door with them, I feel like I am the one following the bread crumbs to the car!!!! There is nothing worse than coming home only to open the door, after a long hard day, to see socks by the front door and dishes peeking over the sink! :)
(For some reason it is so different at the office, I just pick everything up off my desk and put it in my "IN Box" until tomorrow, then I come in fresh in the morning and it is like a new desk every day!!!)
Sounds like how I leave my room getting ready for work.
I was hoping that NJ might get better with age. Maybe not. He leaves a trail of clean clothes that he pulls out of the drawers.
I'm not much better really. : )
I find a trail of lit lights around the house as well. :)
