On the 13th Dash and I celebrated our 13th anniversary. We went out to eat and went to see the movie "No Reservations." We had a nice time. We even ventured out to Walmart to shop for Cman's birthday gift.
On the 14th we went to town to return what we got Cman and let him pick out his own pocket knife! Every good little discovery Ranger must get a pocket knife! We went out to eat in celebration of C's bday. He seemed to have a good night.
Today (the 15th) is the first day of school for the kids. They are excited about it. We only live 3 blocks from the school but a highway comes between us. For their safety they are asigned a bus to take them to school. Ironically the stop is on the highway?! Go figure. They can walk to and from school if we will let them, so I'm sure they'll negotiate that in once they figure out that it's easier to just come home instead of lug their backpacks on the bus to sit there for 10 minutes before ever leaving the school! The highway is not as busy as Lamar and it's got a street name, not a highway name in town, so we'll see.
On the 16th I will be cooking all day long! Not really, but I will be making Cman's favorite cake (yellow) he is also getting a "BIG" taco meal. He turns 8 this year. He got a pocket knife for his birthday a dinner out tonight in celebration and he gets cake and tacos on his birthday. I think 8 is treating him pretty well! :)
On the 17th High School Musical 2 will end our week. The kids have talked about little else all summer. They have the whole evening planned. Chan has a HSM2 poster for either his locker or bedroom and they have a magazine that's all about it and the stars too! By the time the actual movie comes on I hope it's not a let down! There's been so much hype!
This is our week of celebrations and new beginnings every year! After the kids are grown and move away just having a regular anniversary without other stuff surrounding it will be boring! I might buy a tablet and pen just for fun! :) I love boquets of freshly sharpened pencils! :)

Cman is 8 already. I remember when he started our kindergarden class at OP. He was the youngest in the class if I recall
wow, wrote a long comment and lost it, darn.
Congrats on 13! The lab lost our film that year!
I'm with Cman on the taco dinner - totally love that and it's usually my pick. I have to refrain from doing mexican every week.
School? Already?
I thought HSM2 was something you were going to at the local HS. Guess I'm not a kid!!!
Yep...the 15th was a big day for us too, with school starting today!
But it really is the 17th that has all of their attention with HSM2 premiering on Disney...lol!
Turns out that I couldn't have splurged for Dishnetwork at any better timing!!!
I remember N asking me if he thought I could get cable this summer so that he could watch the 2nd movie...and at that point, I was still temping and had told him probably not. Amazing! :)
Congrats on the anniversary and to C-man on the birthday.
I am thinking, "School already?" as well.
I keep on hearing about High School Musical, but I don't really know what it is. I think I'll be doing some investigation today.
Sounds like an awesome week! It's cool that HSM2 is available on tv so you don't have to spend the money in the theatre!
Wow. School seems to start early! The big taco and pocket knife sounds like a good time. I like to do that for my 44th!
I like the busyness of life and it seem like you guys embrace it and handle it well. What to do when the kids are gone?
You can never go wrong with a big taco dinner on a birthday.
