We have now concluded almost all the packing that will need to be done, with few exceptions. It feels good to go through and get rid of things that you don't need or find old things. The treasure tonight that I found was my old scrap book. My mom had an old photo album she was getting rid of when I was in high school. It was my favorite album growing up and I didn't want to see it go....so I took it and made a scrap book!
It wasn't the kind of scrap book that is done now with fancy glue and glitter. It was just a simple book with my stuff stapled and taped to the pages. Mostly it has ribbons and awards I won in things. In the process of getting ready to move back to the area I grew up in I have been remembering a lot more from high school. I was involved in a lot of things, much like my children are now. I did academic and sports stuff and things just for fun. I won 1st place in cake decorating and in electronics with 4-H and not as high places in track! (3rd and 4th in high jump and hurdles.) I went to state level competitions with BPA (Business Professionals of America.) I sang solos in church, was in the orchestra, taught Sunday School and played Volley Ball. I was also in a National Honor Society and Who's Who a couple years.
It was nice to remember that my life in high school wasn't bad and that I had some really good times too! I guess I should keep my "keepsakes" out more often! Dash too, took a trip down memory lane with some of his stuff. I think the kids enjoyed seeing the pictures and hearing what kinds of things we did when we were younger! We took our trips and still managed to get the packing complete! :)

Packing is hard without going down "memory land". Sounds like you accomplished and did a lot.
My kids love hearing about and seeing pictures of my youth. By the way, when we are in town this week, after church on Sunday, our kids are having a birthday party at Zonkers. We invited a few kids, my sisters kids and forests kids. Sunrise will be there. We aren't forgetting about you, but your kids are probably too old to run around with 5 and 2 year olds. You are welcome to come though, to hang out.
I love finding things that take me down memory lane. There are some things I would like to find, but I fear are lost forever.
It is good to have most of the work behind you. The packing process is probably the part of a move that is the easiest to forget about and can take the most time.
Since we moved around a lot when I was a kid, I lived out of boxes more than I would like. My mom would make a point that she loved the process of getting rid of stuff during a move, but she hated living out of a box for a couple of months.
It's neat that you got to share your memories with your kids. I love old scrapbooks from school!
Seems like you packed really fast! I have a habit of getting distracted by stuff I "find" in my house when packing and cleaning. Kinda fun, huh?
