Does everyone do this...or are the kids and I nutso?:)

Today was my last day of work for Tawne and co! She gave me a Trivet ?sp and a Christmas ornament that were from Kansas Sampler. She said she wanted me to know that they would still be thinking of us and not to forget them or KC! How could I forget them or KC?!

As we dropped off my check at a branch by her house I pointed out it was the last time we'd be there. We drove by my old work (Woodside) last night when we were out and about and Cman had asked a couple times to drive out in the country of Kansas like we have done before--one more time. I started too, but gas is so expensive the kids settled on driving out K7 and up to Nebraska Furniture Mart instead! We walked around it one last time and checked out bedroom furniture that they would absolutely love to have. I wish we had bought it for them now...we won't find those prices in Indiana. :(

We left and drove by the house we bought when we lived here before. N and I talked about the walks we took and memories from the neighborhood. It's actually much improved from when we lived there. The Cracker Barrel is out of business but Wendy's is not! :) We drove had a good time driving around and remembering places and things.

I don't know if everyone does stuff like that or not, but whenever I'm about to move, the last week or two I start going over places I've been and experiences I've had there. I guess it's my way of saying goodbye to the area and preparing myself for the differences between it and the next place I'm headed too. Cman does not believe N that the town we will live in does not have a Mc D! He said "They're everywhere--how can it NOT have a Mc Donalds?!" I had to explain that it was a very tiny town and indeed did not have one. I think he's still holding out assuming we're trying to trick him! I guess once I've cooked 5 meals in a row without going out he'll start understanding! :)

though i often complained about them ... there is something peacefull about riding through the country with nowhere to go.

Of course we'll be doing a bit more of that in the future. I'll be peacefull as a monk :-)

Yeah, you need to do stuff like that for closure, I think. I know I do.

Not having a Micky D's makes the visits you can make to a McDonalds more special.

I don't think you are nutso. I've done that too. I still drive by old houses that I have lived in when I'm in that area.

I think its great you have fond memories that make you want to go back and revisit them!

So, no, I don't really think you are nutso...lol!

For me? I choose NOT to go back and remember anything of the last 10 years...

Except, my specific Evangel memories are pretty great! Especially the dear friends that I met there!

Glad you are still going to be only a "weekend trip" away!!!! :)

I love driving around my old haunts. Of course all the time in KC is now that way for me. Tell me there is some kind of fast food - you don't have to cook ALL the time, do you?? Actually we are far from fast food here and I miss the convenience. But I save money!
