For the past month and a half N has not had homework or stuff to study from school. They put all their concentration on the sixth grade play. Now that there is only a few weeks left in school she's had a lot of homework the past couple of days. She had homework last night (even though she also had a band concert.) We had become conditioned as a family that she was done with school and that the last quarter they were just going to play and goof off and now we're finding out that's not true. I don't know who is taking the news harder N or me! :) It's been rather nice to have the kids come home and be able to play and goof off and watch TV and hang out. I'm bummed for her because I know her brain checked out and now she's having to force herself to check back in, which is difficult to accomplish. I hope that her grades aren't affected by the choices the teachers have made, but I fear they will be. I guess only time will tell.
Oh well, such is life.

The last quarter is the hardest, and that is especially the case when you think everything is already done. It's kind of like getting to the end of a 10K and finding out that you're actually running a marathon (not that I know anything about running).
I know EXACTLY what you are talking about! It happened to us this week too! N had his "cast party" on Tuesday and his backpack was full the same night! Thankfully, J's work load has stayed pretty even...and he is such a trooper getting it all done the first thing after school! I am so proud of him! :)
But we are all ready for summer break...except for the increase in child care costs. :(
