Cman has been begging to blog for a while and always seems to ask at the wrong time when a computer is not available or he has to do something else. He's in the other room right now writing his first blog in a while. Actually, that's not entirely true. The poor guy blogged not that long ago but then he tried to publish it and did something wrong, he ended up losing the whole thing.
He and N have a different approach to blogging and life in general. N will set down and blog away and then hit publish and wha la. Cman is wanting to spell everything correct. So the last blog he wrote, he only used site words! He told me it was OK that he lost it, he couldn't write much anyway because he didn't really know how to spell so he didn't say a lot. This time, he's venturing out some. He's been in here about 10 times asking me to verify how to spell a word. He doesn't just say "how do you spell" he's thought about the word and will say ask me questions like "is make spelled with a ck or just a k? So it's just mak?" Then we talk about what rule makes the a go from a short vowel to a long vowel. He remembered that it needed an E, he forgot that it needed it on the end. He thought fire was fier. It's nice to see him branching out and using more words. It's also nice to see him trying to apply spelling skills that he's learning.
I realized today in his homework that they are stepping it up a bit at school too. It looks as if they are ready to make him ready for third grade! He has his first 100 problem math skills test. I don't know how fast he's suppose to get it done in? It's simple addition so he'll probably do okay with it, but it will be interesting to see how he does under pressure. He's not been exposed to this type of work yet. It's weird to realize that his world is bigger then it use to be and my baby is no longer a baby. It's not that I don't know that, but having identifiable markers along the way like homework, and blogging abilities definitely reinforce. That and when he beats you at spades!

Or was he using his "sight" words? LOL! Sorry...I just could NOT help myself since it was the topic at hand!!! =) Luv U!
Yay for C-man stepping it up a notch!!
Wow, if CMan spells everything correctly he is already ahead of most of the adults (including myself).
I understand being a perfectionist, though.
I never been to his site! I'm going there now.

He's the lego-master link on my page. Nicky also blogged about thanksgiving (she asked at the right times, I guess?!) She is the Little-Artist link on this page.
Cute. Get 'em started in cyberspace early!
