Yard work

This summer we had a kid from church mow our yard. He did a good job, but because I was not the one mowing it all the time and because I was tired of fighting our neighbors the fence line got a little out of control. Since the front yard has recently had some work done to attempt to make it seeded better and eventually grow grass verses rocks and dirt, I figured today was a good day to do our seasonal fence row clean up. It's actually not taking us that long to do, since we do this usually every spring and fall. The hardest part was trimming a tree in the back yard. We cut some branches out and eventually I decided to just prune what was left to the appropriate height (as far up as I could reach!)

I cut the trees out of fence row...Again and dash is working on what is left of some WAY too high honey suckle bushes. I still don't understand why our neighbors to the right insist on having Johnson grass right in the fence by their gate???? Nor do I understand why all the other neighbors we have refuse to keep their fence line clean. We have one neighbor who does a bunch of yard work all the time. She sows grass and fertilizes and waters and and and....But then you look at her fence in the back and it's all grown up with trees and bushes. I know some people like it because it creates privacy, but it's not like its all honey suckle, it's honey suckle AND trees AND other stuff just jumbled together. I don't understand, but maybe she too got tired of the fight to keep it clean and gave up?

I guess no one really wants my opinion, since they never ask! :) But if they did I'd say--let's get together and clean it all up...We could have a grand ole time! Let's get together yeah yeah yeah, you clean your fence and I'll clean mine...! ;)

I think it's the privacy. We let ours go at the back because the big tangle turned into a wall. As for the side fences with the grass, no excuse. It's just a pain to do. I think some neighborhoods have home associations to enforce such things.

Maybe people let the back yard get worse because they think other people won't see it as much. They have to put an appearance on in the front yard. Only the side neighbors know the truth. : )

One summer one of our neighbors didn't even mow their back yard at all, let alone groom the fence line.

I weed wack our fence line once every four to six weeks throughout the summer. I don't think any of our other neighbors do, but they might because it doesn't look too bad.

I broke way too many tool safety rules while trimming the branches of one of the backyard trees. The limbs were just out of reach ... even from the top of our ladder.

I'll need to surrender my Royal Ranger Cun-n-Chop card back to Springfield.
