Oops my bad

I was woken up this morning to a frustrated dad. Frustrated because his 7 year old son was crying because it was gym day and he had no shoes to wear. Dad was upset that this was the first time he heard it and that there was nothing he could do to fix it now, 10 minutes prior to school. I explained to dad that it was my fault, I forgot to go get the new shoes this weekend. Then I went to the little guy and walked in on him complaining tearfully (but not crying) to N.

I said "what's up?" He said, "N's yelling at me to go faster so we won't be late and dad's yelling at me over my shoes. Everyone is yelling at me today." I've had those kind of mornings. So I took him aside and apologized for forgetting to buy his shoes in time for gym. Dad apologized and told him to have fun with it explaining to the others that he put his shoes on and his feet were too big for them! I mean, he has worn sandals ALL summer long. He probably isn't the only kid sitting gym out today, but he'll have his shoes tomorrow for sure! Looks like I dropped the ball on this one. I wish his day had started out better. Bummer.

hm..I'd hate to have cried and been upset like that before school, Hopefully school went better than how his morning started. :)

Hope he did ok during gym. So, they won't let kids play in sandals? I guess it scuffs the gym floor.

Oops. He's just growing too fast, I guess. :)

He didn't want to let people know his feet had grown. He figured a better approach was to say "I don't have any shoes at home!" Oh well. He got new sandals and tennies last night so he was good for today. (They have gym 2 times a week.) And because he told his gym teacher what happened he let him play yesterday, so all worked out in the end.

So what shoes does he normally wear to school? I had only one pair of shoes in school and they worked for everything. At the start of every school year we'd get new shoes.
