Large Family

I come from a large family. Between my parents I have 12 Aunts and Uncles and 19 cousins. Most of my cousins have at least 2 kids each some of them have more then that. Since my folks had 4 kids that means that we had HUGE family reunions growing up.

I stopped going to the family get togethers when I was a senior in high school. So I haven't seen most of my cousins in at least 10 years. Even when I moved back to Indiana I only went to one family get together then. It's weird to know that I have so many relatives out there and that my kids have so many people out there that I use to play with and yet they don't even know they exist let alone the names of my cousins. I have lost track of them and where they all live too.

The other day Chandler mentioned a couple here locally. He said that "I know we're related, I mean we see each other a lot!" N recently got permission to call her cousins on their cell phones once in a while, from her cell. I hope this will help her reestablish some closeness she had with them when they were younger. I would like for my children to feel close to their family, but between the miles and the fact that some of their cousins they only see once a year, it's hard to keep that connection.

I guess that's why cman is creating his own "relatives" in his mind! Careful you may be one and not even know it! :) LOL

It's actually been closer to 15 years since I've seen most of my cousins...I've been out of school longer then I'd like to admit! :)

I can't imagine having that many aunts, uncles, and cousins. It would be hard to keep track.

I have two aunts, two uncles, and three cousins. One cousin has passed away. The sad thing is that we aren't that close.

I saw a trailer for a movie once a long time ago that ended with:

"It is believed that by the year 2000, one in three Americans will be part of my family."

My grandparents had 5 kids. All are still living and each of them have kids, and their kids have kids, etc. A lot of us out there, but the more time goes on the only time we see each other is funerals. I did hunt up a few long lost relatives to stay with during itineration!
