My kids are counting the days till school starts. Cman is excited that his birthday is the day before (8 more days) while N is excited that school begins the day after his birthday (9 more days.) I think overall they're enjoying their summer but they both miss school. I am glad that this is true for them because summers are a lot shorter then the school year and I would hate for them to be miserable during school.
I will miss hanging out with them and I will miss playing with them. It's been fun having them around this summer. I didn't get to all the things I thought I would, but we've enjoyed the things we have done. They are both looking forward to using their new school supplies and I am looking forward to afternoons when they are in their rooms working on homework while I am planning out the dinner for that evening. There's something kind of cool to homework time. It's not that they are quiet, because often they have questions or read out loud or have something going on that creates noise, I think it's because I liked homework so much and some of my happiest memories from growing up are from when I was working on homework, especially math. Math was always a happy thing for me. I like to help the kids with their math homework too! It won't be long before N surpasses me in my math knowledge. Maybe I'll have them teach me then! :)

That's great that they like school. That will go a long way in them performing well in class.
I'm not all that excited about classes starting up again myself.
Okay that is an amazing fact about you. Liking math homework!??? I can almost feel ill thinking about the idea of math homework - still. I didn't enjoy homework. I liked school (except math), but homework cut into my social time. I don't think I ever thought that then but now that I'm grown up I imagine that's what it was. I didn't like homework in college either. I do enjoy writing, just me and the computer for several hours. I suppose in a way that's homework.
With all things, I enjoy beginnings and ends.
The beginning of a new year in school and the end of a previous year.
I enjoyed going to school. I also liked the quiet time in my room doing homework. I liked math. I hated reading comprehension and History/Social Studies/Civics.
I remember the joy of finding out who was in my class and which teacher I would have. I can see why it is exciting. Math homework! not so much. Although I have actually thought about brushing up on my math skills. I think it would be kinda fun actually!!!
