I think we have mutant ants at our house. I have put ant bait out and this has worked in the past. This year it's not working as well, they keep coming back. I put stuff on the outside of the house. They are still coming back. I spray. They come back.
I am trying something that a friend recommended and I am hoping it will work. It's like ant bait, but it's not in a nice contained space. You squirt this sweet poison out on cardboard. The box says that they will come out in swarms (they are) then they will carry it back to their place and all will die. I am hoping that happens. We shall see. There aren't as many ants as I have seen before, but still an ant is an ant. I have even worked extra hard to keep the kitchen clean and they still come back.
We'll see if they can survive this dose of poison. It they do, I guess I'll just stick to spraying them and killing them when they show up. I hope this works. I hate ants.

The ants over here are amazing. Huge colonies with freeways on the side walk. Not big ants necessarily, just loads of them. We haven't, knock on wood, got them in the house here, but in Tarragona we got them a lot. I did however kill quite a number of spiders this morning on my cleaning mission.
I stick to the Spray-N-KILL method...LOL! I can't stand to even see them crawling around to eat the stuff and take it back...augh! =)
Ants are about the only bug that we haven't haven't got. I'm not sure if I should kill the spiders I see or leave them around to kill the crickets.
I hope the cardboard stuff works for you!
I chop up bits of dried sausage and arrange them in patterns. The patterns move and vanish... cool... ANTZZZ!!!!
The ants are gone! :) In less then 24 hours they came in took the bait it's looking good for us (for now!):) Like I said before I keep trying different stuff but then they still resurface. I am not sure if it's the wood siding on the house that they like so much or what? We don't have problems with any other bugs at this point.
This wasn't a massive amount, I just try to get them when I see the first sign of them because I can't stand ants...even more then spiders.
Although, If I had more then the occasional spider, I might change my mind on that!
Glad the cardboard thing worked and hope it continues to work for you.
I noticed the ants were gone tonight. I was greatful since I knew that I'd be spending most of the night under that same sink
We have used the sweet poison stuff too, whenever we get the spring ant attack. You don't have to put it on cardboard, we usually use paper, but it works good. It's cool to see them all swarm in on that sweet juice, knowing that we are infecting them with a virus that will knock out their whole world.
Ants can be relentless. They might come back
