Why didn't you then?

I stood listening to the man who sold us the van tell me that he could have cleaned it up a bit and with the miles gotten 12 or 13,000 for it, instead of what he sold it to us for (SIGNIFICANTLY--Less). Now, I know based on what we could have borrowed that he's probably right, it could have retailed for about 12K. What I don't understand is why? Why didn't he "clean it up a bit" even with the 3 things that we have noticed his costs would be under a grand most likely.

I know what we needed to find and the price we were looking at, I searched and I found. I am glad for that. I believe that prayers were definitely answered. But, I still have to wonder, what good does it do him to stand and tell me what you could have gotten out of the van? I mean, no one forced him to sell it to us. No one said, You HAVE to accept this price. I am not sure, but I would probably be the person selling it for closer to the loan value. I doubt that I would come down like he did. I am thankful that he did...But still... Why didn't he just clean it up a bit and sell it later?

I never had the nerve to ask him. He's a nice guy, we got a great rate, but he does like to have a captive audience to "chat"! It's like he doesn't want you to talk in return, just listen! So that's what I did! Then I drove off with money in the bank and was thankful that it all worked out! At least this guy wasn't creepy and yelling at me like the last dudes we bought from! :) I guess when you are finding vehicles at wholesale prices, you don't get the plush selling event. But you get what you want, a good vehicle at a great price! I can deal with a talker for that kind of a deal! By the way...stay away from Chouteau Automall! That's where we bought our black van and they were less then friendly to deal with. They held the process, thinking I would go away because other people came in offering them more money....They were not friendly people....bad...bad...very bad I didn't want to go through that ever again... people. I wouldn't' wish them on anyone. So no to Chouteau yes to Van City! :) He really was nice and we did get a great deal.

Although, if in the market for a used vehicle, keep in mind that the overall market is not the best right now because of all the hurricanes and tornadoes. There's been a lot of totaled vehicles and not as many in the market to pick from. I found that my search was much more limited this time and the guy from Van City mentioned it off the cuff. I put it together. The deals are not as sweet now as they were a few years ago. In fact, I got our other grand caravan sport for 3 grand less then this one 3 years ago (they are 3 years apart) but it also had 14,000 more miles on it then this one has now when we purchased it. You have to take it all in to consideration when you are taking time to find the right deal.

Vehicles! Yuck! (when their inconvenient that is). I can relate at times. Because IMM here is operating on a skeleton staff, I am now the "spanish used car-lot king for the IMM fleet" this includes the super secret new VIP vehicle fleet parked in the director's driveway. This is part of my "B" portfolio. Now if I can just deal with cranky spanish vehicle inspectors, the fleet might survive... but I doubt it.....

Did you get it from an individual? If so, it was probably laziness or apathy.

I think she said van city.

I don't like car shopping.

Maybe he hadn't had the van that long?

I know my car I have now was traded in by the woman in the dealership the same evening I was there looking. So I actually ended up taking my car back to them to finish making the car a Certified vehicle.

And in reality, you aren't supposed to question a miracle when God gives you one!!! LOL!

Remember, He closed the mouths of lions and made a donkey speak!! He can surely make a Car Salesman make a good deal! ;) (All He has to do is close the salesman's mouth DURING the sale)

His statement was a moot point. Or as Joey on Friends says, it was a moo point--a cow made it.

Am I the only person who thought Van City could be the name of a town? :)
