Kinetic learner

I have heard that kinetic learners have a difficult time learning when their environment is not comfortable for them. If they are cold or too hot they can't think as clearly. They are distracted by their environment so they don't absorb what they should be learning around them.

I think I am a stronger kinetic learner then I realized. I have always been this way. Now that I'm older it's worse for me. Put me in a room that is too cold or too hot and all I think of is how cold or hot I am. I often layer my clothing so I can be better prepared for various temperatures. Everyone seems to have a different idea of what the "perfect" temperature is. Even at home I have throws available on the couches.

The reason I thought of this recently is because I was talking to a friend of mine about Cman and how he has hated water and pools for a long time. He is more comfortable in them now, and has grown accustom to them somewhat--but I still often finds himself shivering in a corner instead of relaxing and having fun. He is too cold in the water. He doesn't like cold showers or baths either. So, maybe there is something to this theory. Anyone else ever notice if temperature effected your learning?

Temperature affects both my learning and my ability to work.

There is something further than that for me, though. If I am uncomfortable in other ways (uncomfortable clothing, need to pee, etc) I am borderline useless.

I can relate to the comfort thing too. Especially when you have got to pee.

Yep, temps bother me too. If my basic needs aren't met, that is all I can think about. (food, warmth, bathroom)

I never enjoyed pools either. I was always shivering in the corner also with blue lips and wrinkled fingers.

I don't know if I can say it affects my learning directly, but if its too hot in a room...then my nerves are just shot. I end up being more short tempered and downright miserable.

But the reps in my office seem to be that way when its too cold.

They keep a small heater in the room with their cubicles...and I keep a fan by my desk. I remind them that I am sitting next to a printer AND the Aramark machine! And when they leave the light on in the supply closet, also by my desk, I feel the heat generated...then I get grumpy!
