I am curious. How many of you if you were a candidate would have the Lasic eye surgery? I am not 100% sure I would be a candidate, but I think I would be. Even still, I can't imagine doing that! I know LOTS of people who have had it done successfully. Yet my fear remains the same, what if I had it done and I went blind? Do I want to not be able to see at all just because I didn't want to wear glasses or contacts?
My mom thinks I am crazy and that I should have it done. Luckily I married a man who likes glasses. He thinks they are a neat accessory. In fact, he prefers me wearing them to contacts! So I know he's okay with me being a chicken. I just thought I'd see what others think about this. Is it a divided thing, or am I really the only person out there that is not sold on this?

From a person who had to start wearing glasses in the 4th grade...and did not get contacts until my junior year of college...I have a long-term goal to do the surgery.
Besides having several friends that have had the surgery, my father has even had the surgery. He was a HIGH risk candidate too...but he said its amazing to even wake up and see clearly before you get out of bed for even ONE DAY was worth it!
Right now, I prefer my contacts to my glasses because I have better vision and less headaches. The only downfall to contacts that I have right now is allergy season...and can't usually wear them. Since I have severe outdoor/seasonal allergies, that would be one of my main reasons for getting the surgery.
(This is strictly my opinion...but you asked for it...LOL!)
BTW, the main reason its a long-term goal is because I am the kind of person who pays attention to statistics and research. The procedure is still too new to determine long-term effects.
I also hate trying new medicines too, even though the doctors tend to push them, because the pharmaceutical salespeople push them on the docs!
Golden is cute in her glasses.
I don't know how I feel about the surgery. I think I would have it done, but it is one of the surgeries that I would be most nervous about.
I don't think I need it for healthy eye reasons. I would hate to give up the option of wearing glasses, because I am a sexy beast with 4 eyes.
I have the same fears that you do. Is it worth the risk? Vernal brought up a good point.
I want to get a new pair of glasses but I know my eyes keep doing weird things because I'm pregnant. I will have to wait. : (
