GG's quest

This weekend dash's aunt and uncle will be in town to see his daughter (not related to dash...It's aunt's 2nd marriage.) We normally do not see them when they come to town but apparently GG (Dash's grandma) is cleaning house. She's going through all her stuff and since they live with her, she's using them to transport stuff to us. She's giving up on when we'll get there to see her. I don't blame her, we're not good about visits, especially when our parents are long distance trips for both of us and she's the opposite direction.

We've gotten probably 4 phone calls about "would you want...." We have turned down another water bed, precious moments, some books, and china and lots of princess house crystal. We have taken blanket/quilts. The quilts are what we really wanted because she made them and we both LOVE quilts. Dash has also accepted a large picture that may or may not make it into our home for decoration but he likes where it came from so we have to take it to look at it and see. I am not sure if we are getting flat wear or not? When she offered China and stem wear we countered, with "we have that, but we don't have a nice flat wear set." So we'll see? I am really not sure what else dash snuck in because he's the only one that has communicated with her.

All I can think is, but I have stuff the way I like it, for the most part. I also have no real need to have a bunch of stuff from someone else. I have a bible from my GG, a canister set that I don't use from my Grandma and some casserole dishes from my other Grandma. That's it. We have a lot of stuff from chad's dad and some stuff now from his grandma. I guess with a smaller family there's more to go around for it to land our direction. Maybe that's another reason I never really cared about stuff, I knew I was so far down the list with my families that I'd never get anything I cared about. I was shocked when I got the antique cash register that I played with growing up. That made my day! I am sure I'll appreciate the history, I just also know that there is always a limited amount of space too consider.

I will be glad to take the Princess House Crystal off your hands...lol!

I wanted more pieces from my Grandmother, but my mom decided to sell it in a "yard sale" for 50 cents/piece!!!

That's the kind of stuff that I liked, but my mom is NOT a "glass" or "sparkle" person...LOL!

Hope you like the picture that you get! Quilts are neat to receive especially if they are handmade.

The picture is from a little artsy village in Michigain called Frankenmuth. In addition to being the cool place to buy art when my folks were newly married (like this painting), it is also the home to "Bronners" - The Worlds Largest Christmas Store.

I've only been there once as an adult, but I remember it as the place I bought my first Horror Comic books from the 60's for a quarter a piece. Now, they are the most 'valuable' books in the collection. In case anyone is looking for really old horror comics, let me know ... I've got a freind from church that is selling them on ebay.
