Quite the little cook

We have been blessed by many of you bringing us dinners. I can't say thank you enough. It's been such a blessing with Dash's work schedule and N and Cman trying to keep up with school and what housework they are able to help with.

We have discovered something that is very nice. N is probably going to be quiet an accomplished cook! She is our "pinch hitter" between provided meals and the ever faithful sandwiches :). She has learned to fix several things on her own. Here is a list of things that she has fixed over the last few weeks.

1. Pasta and stewed tomatoes
2. Oatmeal
3. Grilled cheese. (I know, it's mean of me to have her fix this for me when she can't eat it also, but she did an excellent job and didn't seem to mind -- since it freed up extra chicken for her and cman!)
4. Chicken
5. She helped brown the meat for the taco meat we took to Love's Command Christmas party
6. Corn and Green beans mixed with bacon bits and seasoning
7. Green beans
8. Baked potatoes, okay there is a microwave button that says "baked potatoes" so that's not that tough to figure out!

More impressive stuff....

9. Peanut Butter Cookies (completely from scratch)
10. More Peanut Butter cookies.
11. Again...peanut butter cookies :)
12. Ginger Bread cookies
13. Delightful, oh my goodness....so wonderful...my favorite cookies...YAY she can make them excellently!!!!.....SNICKERDOODLES!!!!!!! (Again completely from scratch.)
14. She also is trying to master Tostinoes pizza...we're still working on this one:)!!

I can't think of anything else at the moment, off the top of my head. But she's been doing a great job. Taking her time, reading directions, asking questions and being careful. I just hope that by letting her loose in the kitchen now, she doesn't get tired of cooking! I had an interest at her age, but my mom didn't like the mess a child creates in the kitchen so I wasn't allowed to cook. PLUS, she LOVES to cook :). I grew out of my love for it, I hope that doesn't happen with N. She's got real potential!

I can't wait until I can make the kids cook. I've decided that they will each have to have a night once a month to make dinner. This way my boys will be quite the catch when they are older! Who can resist a boy that will cook for you?

yes, guys who can cook are priceless! cman is only 6, but he also has an interest in cooking!

The difference between him and N is what will keep him OUT of my kitchen for a little while longer then her! She is very dedicated to following a recipe. Cman likes to create his own recipes. :) It will be a while before I'm ready for that!

This is great experience for N! It will give her more confidance when she fixes food for her hubby someday.

Forgive me for pointing out a spelling error, but it should be "quite" the little cook. Quiet is a word to describe me. : )

"quiet the little cook" was corrected to "quite the little cook." I wonder when spell check will start checking to see if the words you have are used correctly? Until then...
