"you have broken your leg, right at the joint, you may need a pin put in it, you'll have to see a specialist."
All the words kept flying at me. I could barely breathe. This was not what I expected. Torn ligaments, maybe--but a break? How is that possible, I could still walk? Had I done extra damage by not seeing a doctor right away? I didn't even want to ask. I always put things off thinking I'm okay that it's nothing. Well, this big, bulky 1/2 cast splint says otherwise (the crutches say something too...I'll save that blog for when I am in a better mood.) I am not a good patient, so please pray for me and my family as we embark on what we were told tonight may be a 6 to 8 week journey (if we're lucky) I don't think that includes full recovery time if they decide to put a pin in? We'll know more later this week.
Dash is out getting the good medicine, what I've been using isn't helping the pain. He thinks it will knock me out. I don't know why he think this? It's only Darvocet! My mom takes 1/2 a pill of this when she's in pain. I think I'll keep that in mind and see how I'm doing in a day or so. Maybe I'll be able to moderate what I take. Guess this means someone else is decorating the tree this year.

HEY! Remember that summer when you kept driving to St. Louis to nurse a sick friend in the hospital??? Well, maybe, just maybe, she might have...oh let's see..about 10 days to use or lose for vacation...LOL! I don't think you need to worry about cleaning on the weekends or putting up the tree...okay?
Seriously, though, I am so glad you got to the doctor today. I had no idea since I hadn't seen you. But the good thing is...you are taking care of it now. And, yeah, I am not sure that Darvacet is strong enough...course, I am used to "opium"...er, I mean morphine! LOL! =D
Wow. Let us know if there is anything we can do for you. Glad you have Dash and the kids to help you around the house.
I have never had Darvocet. Sounds wonderful. : )
yeah, uh dash thought the darv would knock me out. If only I were that lucky. It is not making me sleepy. I guess this is a good thing?
I agree with Verna...percocet did more for me than vicodin when I had surgery this summer.
I can bring you what I have left...but they work GREAT on my migraines too!
jadee, thanks but no. I have too many allergies to meds, so I have to be careful, plus I don't take other peoples scripts. :) So you can keep it for your migranes!
That stinks.
Did you ever tell us how you fell and broke your foot? Were you jumping off a cliff?
Well my story has nothing fun, exciting, or interesting about it, unfortunately. My parents and my sisters were playing pool in the lower level of the cabin. Everyone else was in bed asleep, including my nephew (on the couch in the sitting area.) So as I started to go down stairs to join them, I got to the bottom of the stairs (I thought) but actually had one more step. I turned my foot inward as I fell and broke my leg bone right at the ankle joint.
I guess I should point out that I left the lights out because of my nephew sleeping, so it was dark, which is why I didn't see the other step and only thought I had reached the bottom.
