Old

I liked the shows I watched growing up and the songs we listened to. We watched Porter Wagner, Hee Haw, Brady Bunch, The A team, Dallas, Knots Landing, Happy Days, Lavern and Shirley, Alice, Facts of Life (my favorite:)) Family Ties, The Cosby Show, Different World, Scarecrow and Mrs. King, Rip Tide, Simon and Simon, Magnum PI....

I liked these shows as a kid for lots of reasons. Facts of Life because I could really relate to the characters. I wanted to be confident and cool like Joe, sophisticated like Blair, I admired Tuti and Natalie's friendship and could relate to Natalie's naive ways and Tuti's "Oh my gosh how could you not know that?" responses both. It was a good show about girls growing up and I was a girl growing up. So I liked it a lot. I wish they had it on reruns now!

I liked the old songs we use to listen to, these were songs from country stations on the radio or songs that my mom was learning to play/sing for a wedding so they always told a story. You light up my life was my first solo in school! I sang it for an audition at the age of 8. I didn't get the part, probably because of the song I picked to sing-- and the teacher needed extra whistlers for group song, there were only a few of us who could actually whistle a song at that age! My mom and dad both like Kenny Rogers, so we heard all his songs. Alabama was a great band, I actually saw them in concert with my best friend during their "I'm in a hurry" time. That was my theme song until I met dash and he made me slow down! (He btw HATES that song!) My sisters listened to the radio and introduced me to Chicago and Reo and friends at school exposed me to Bon Jovi and Def Leopard!

I guess I'm old, because I miss shows like Facts of Life and I really miss the old time music. I don't know if it's something that happened to me in the womb because of the way my mom plays (she plays piano by ear BEAUTIFULLY) The problem is she plays all parts of the music so as a child I could never find the melody when she played. I find myself appreciating the simple songs and music that I can recognize. Probably why I liked country so much. That and my dad like it. I haven't listened to it in years either though. I didn't like Garth and everyone after him seems to be trying to copy his "rock meets county" style. Ironically I liked Garth as Chris Gains! (I think I am the only one.)

Well, that's enough retrospect for now. I need to get to bed so I can get up and finish packing for our last camp out of the year. We'll be kicking back by the fire and chillin (for real!) No TV, no radio just us, games, and the great outdoors. It doesn't get sweeter then that.

Okay, now I never knew that "I'm in a hurry" was YOUR theme song!?! Even when we were hanging out last time and listening to my Alabama collectiona and I TOLD YOU that it was my theme song one year...LOL! How little we truly know our best friends...LOL!

I would not consider you old, because I like those shows too! But for other reasons...we didn't have TV growing up and all my friends knew of the shows...so when I got to babysit, I watched them as much as I could...oh such a rebellious girl I was then...LOL!

I can relate to your mother playing by ear. I sing by ear...but I HEAR all the parts...which makes it difficult for me to pick a part and stay with it!!

Have fun camping this weekend! We will be enjoying our first fire of the year in our fireplace. Yes, I got some marshmallows for the boys!
We will swap stories when you get back! =D

So, you had a fun night staying up late!

Sitcoms don't have good theme songs anymore. That is what I miss. I loved the Wonder Years song. I had a crush on Fred Savage.

I forgot to mention Little House on the Prairie. I thought briefly about crushes last night and realized that I had a lot of crushes but not for guys in most of these shows.

I like Ricky S. from Silver spoons and his friend Alfonzo! I also liked Albert, Andy, and "Manly"on little house at one point or another. I liked Kirk Cameron from Growing Pains. I think my show list would have been different if I had thought about crushes first instead of shows! BTW, totally liked George Clooney on Facts of Like!!

I actually packed some and then I tried to go to sleep for a long time. So while it's was okay, I would have liked to be drifted off into the land of sleep! But I'm good. That will just help me sleep better when everyone else at camp is crashing!

BTW Jadee, I actually did tell you about I'm in a Hurry! I even told you that Nicky and I (My best friend from high school, not my Nicky) use to drive with the windows down singing to this song REALLY loud!

:) :) :) :):)

That's okay I don't mind that you didn't catch that WHOLE conversation! I still love you! :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

Last camping trip, huh? It must be fall there. We are still fighting off high 70s in the afternoons. I don't mind but it certainly doesn't seem like autumn. I'm in the mood for a fire and pumpkins.

My favorite night of the week was Tuesday because Growing Pains, Who's the Boss and Wonder Years were all on. My favorite theme song is the one to "Punky Brewster". I can still sing every line!
