Sometimes you just need to get away from the things that are stressing you out. Lately that's been harder for me to do than it usually is. I can usually read a book or take a little while watching TV and feel much better just taking some time to not think about the ins and outs of life that can be less fun than others.
So upon some swift thinking on my part and a little pleading--I got Mr. T to agree to use some of his Marriott points on me this weekend! The whole weekend was a lot of fun for me. I got to spend from Late Friday night until this morning with Mr. T without our children (who are visiting grandparents.) Sunday night we spent the night at a Marriott here locally. We didn't have to drive a long distance to relax which was nice. We just kicked back and enjoyed the view. We sat on the balcony and watched the rain come in. It was very peaceful. We ate outside at one of my favorite restaurants. We weren't on a time schedule, everything was spontaneous and unplanned. I loved it. I am usually so schedule oriented that I stress when we're not on time, but I love to have "spontaneous/unplanned" time to kick back and that was what this weekend was for me.
It was back to work this morning for the two of us and when I get home I've got plenty of things to keep me busy this week, but it was so nice to not have to worry about those things this weekend. Another great thing was Mr. T was in date mode until yesterday afternoon so all my doors were opened for me with a smile. I had to tease him a bit when we were finally headed home yesterday. I told him I knew our date was over. He said "why do you say that?" and I replied, because I had to open my own door! But that's okay. I am capable of opening my own doors, even though it's nice to have the special attention from time to time! So even though I'm back in my real world today, it was nice to take a few days off.

That sounds awesome! You guys certainly deserved the break!
I think the next time I find a guy who opens doors for me, I will hang onto him! LOL! That is the one thing my exhusband did right!
Haven't met another one that opens doors yet....hmmm...maybe I should start praying specifically???? ;-)
The vacation was great for me too. I took it as a good sign this morning that I really realy really didn't want to go back to work.
As we drove back from St. Louis late friday night, T and I remarked that it seemed really quiet in the car. This was strange since our kids are usually asleep on long trips anyways. We decided that the car felt "empty".
No that my vacation is over I realize that the emptiness was just the extra space we needed.
happy day-after-our-just-us-day T.
Sounds like you've had a fun long weekend. There is very little I like more than taking a break away from responsibilities and interruptions.
Glad you guys got to be spontaneous! I also like days were there are no plans. Worrying about keeping a time schedule is one of my problems.
That sounds like fun. It sounds like you guys were on the plaza, were you?
I would have loved to see Mr. T in date mode: "I pity the fool who doesn't open the door for my wife..."
We weren't on the Plaza, maybe next time!? We were in OP this time. But it still was nice and relaxing.
Yes, Mr. T is quiet a different person when in date mode. I get caught off guard sometimes when he's already switched and I'm not expecting it! Not to say that he isn't kind at other times, but he is in a "put her first" mode which is more calculated then other times. I like both Mr. T's the date guy and the everyday one! Guess that's a good thing since I live with every day Mr. T and only get to go out once in a while with date guy! The funny thing is date guy didn't really show up until after we were married! LOL!
What!?!
Usually the date is number one before marriage and then disappears after marriage.
yes, it usually is the reverse, but Mr. T likes to rebel in his own kind of ways.
He doesn't like to do what is "expected." Thus I don't get Valentines gifts etc because "that's too easy and cheesy." (At least I use to not get them.:-))
He has learned that trying to explain to the multitudes at work why you didn't get your wife a gift or something special for vtines is rather painful! So, thanks to some dear people in Indiana he does attempt to get me some little something during these times as well. But I have learned not to expect in a traditional sense from him when it comes to romance. He doesn't let me down and I tend to get things more often throughout the year because he's not trying to save up for a special day by others standards.
I think a lot of it when we were dating was he just figured I must love him if I accepted him as he was. Plus we were in college and poor so expectations were low!
